Major improvements for 2019!
By Horsacourse | on Monday, July 29, 2019
I traded up from a 2017 (which was already a great truck!) to a 2019 and wow what an improvement! I have the 5.3 with 8 speed tranny, which is smooth shifting, super quiet ride, etc, etc. Chevy as the controls and buttons all figured out nicely for easy of use. The backseat of this crew cab is even bigger than the previous model; its so big the kids can almost play football back there. Definitely another great value from Chevy. Minor irksome points include the goofy tilt/telescoping steering wheel. The previous model had a simply stalk that allowed easy up/down but the 2019 uses a goofball 'Japanese style' system, which is ery annoying and cumbersome to use. Also missing the ashtray (not for smoking but for storing small items like trailer keys, chapstick, and stuff). Also, they took away the third cup holder in the front/center, which is also annoying since I always have two different drinks while my passenger also has her own. But everything else is awesome and absolutely love this truck!… - 4.0
Within Limits
By Ebase | on Saturday, February 15, 2020
I have the LT Trail Boss. It’s a pretty impressive truck. It does handle off-road decently. It’s tough enough. The body doesn’t freak and rattle in protest anywhere. In the snow it’s as expected. It’s can eat up a snowed in road with ease with no issue. So, in terms of capability it’s about as good as you could want this side of a Raptor which is next level. On the freeways here in California where the AC runs constantly it drinks fuel. Sometimes, we only get 11 MPG. So much for the active cylinder cutoff system. It’s a stiff ride but the typically terrible streets and freeways of LA are all no problem for it. It is HARD to parallel park this thing. You have to make sure your skills are up to par before you traverse the urban environment. Visibility isn’t great. And it is long. None of this is unique for a .500 ton. It’s just plain old big. The LED lights are awesome. They light up the road beautifully with a wide spread of cool white. The bed light is also LED. And there are two more in the back for good measure. Loading up at night was easy. There are two more lights in the mirrors for off-road but they’re weak and kind of useless. But, in terms of curb appeal the LED light trims, bezels, brake lights I think look phenomenal. Some people hate the new nose on Chevys but I like it. It’s different but I like having these thin headlights tucked high up on a flat grill. It’s arrogant looking. The interior is really it’s weak spot. The seats are plenty comfortable and made of durable material but it is plastic, plastic, and more plastic. And cheap plastic in places it should be much nicer to the touch. I get the utilitarian roots of the vehicle but come on. I also don’t like the column shifter. Really? 2020 people. Get a proper console shifter. It has USB’s everywhere. All 5 riders could charge their phones and still charge up an iPad to show some movies and placate the restless. The audio is quite good. In that it gets loud. It’s weak on the mids but does kick some bass and it’s also a little “tinny” on the highs but that’s just picking on it. It can play a good cross section of music from hard rock, hip hop, EDM, and kid music. The sunroof is big and opens quickly. The interior has great illumination at night. And there is plenty of cup holders, cubbies, and hiding areas for things. The back seat has these ingenious idea for a small locker perfect for your handguns. I’ve had some initial QC issues. The exhaust mounting joint was detached causing the pipe to jiggle and it would’ve eventually broke off. One wrench problem fixed. Another was a tire pressure monitor that was reading incorrectly. Dealership handled it. But it’s annoying lack of attention to detail. When I compared it to the Ram I liked the Chevy better. But I liked the Ram and the F150 interior much better. The Raptors interior was awesome but they charged infinitely more and their lease prices were almost comical. It definitely holds its own for what it is. It’s obnoxious. We picked up my niece from school in our Tesla and she was ho hum about that. We picked her up in this beastly, loud and obnoxious truck and she did the whole 11 year old ego dance getting in. A little more fun than their Honda Odyssey, Siena’s, and infinite line of embarrassing excuses for SUV’s that are way more Costco parking lot than being able to handle the rigors of one inch of snow.… - 4.0
This is my first Chevy truck owned. I’m happy with
By Tom shedd | on Saturday, September 05, 2020
The truck is comfortable and has more power than I’ll ever use. It’s 11,000 tow capacity is excellent and my fuel economy without a trailer is 23.5 mpg. This is running 72 mph on the interstate. Couldn’t be happier with this truck.…
